Hi there!
My name is Thalia Powell and I am graduating this spring from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BFA: Graphic Design, with an emphasis in ceramics.
I have a strong interest in publication design and branding, alongside my continuous practices in ceramics and painting. My knowledge of both digital design styles and traditional principles of fine art combine to inform a detailed and balanced aesthetic, and a flexible approach with attention to craft and visual cohesion.
I strive to depict my reverential perception of the natural world and its connection to femininity– metaphorically and literally, I love to smell the roses.
My advanced ceramics courses, focused on creating group exhibitions, have given me experience in installation design, curation, and collaborative creative processes.
Outside of my academic work, I have teaching experience as an assistant pottery instructor in Milwaukee and have completed various freelance graphic design projects. My practice as a designer and artist continues to evolve through persistent curiosity and enthusiasm for new challenges.
